Needs more research

A good introduction into one of my favorite plants, but needs a little more research to bring it into a Five Star category...there was a little information on the growing of the plants as well as some of the diseases gardeners will come across, but not anything on how to mitigate these diseases or planting tips for peppers. Sometimes there was too much information; i.e.-- too much of the nutritional values of canned and fresh chiles. Maybe I was looking for more of a gardening book rather than a health book, but it was sporadic...some of the peppers had a ton of info, others were missing basics like the Scoville Heat Unit rating that determines how hot a pepper is. Since that was the author's distinction of hot vs sweet, it would be nice to include it on all types listed. I don't understand how you include the nutrition for fresh Hungarian Wax Peppers and not have how hot the medium hot ones are. Still, there is a lot of information if you have never grown peppers or just want to know what is available in the stores.

Internet information

The information in the e-reader is mostly technical (dietary, scientific names, etc). Not useful to the home gardener at all. When descriptions of the fruit, pests, and diseases were given a simple picture would have been very beneficial.
This is a free reader so I gave it a try, it only took about 10 minutes to read, as I skipped over all the dietary info.
Would not recommend this to a home gardener. As a home gardener I can go to the internet and find what I need with attached photos in most case. I really wanted to find a quick reference book (with photos) on peppers if a future need arose where I had a question. This was not that book.

Good information

Recently moved to the part of the country where chilies are the main cash crop. Anxious to get mine going next spring. Much good information that I did not read in other publications. I loved the fact that they are giving nutritional information on the chile plus canned, etc. This is so helpful. Also listed are the heat index for each in case you are not familiar with the different kinds. I found several that I had not heard of but am anxious to try.
