Witty and Charming

This is a witty and charming follow-up to Bonaduce's "The Merchant of Venice Beach". Erinn Wolf lands a job producing a reality TV show called BATTLEready! and finds herself attracted to two very different men. This is not a bodice-ripping romance - rather, it is a very funny tale of a 42-year-old woman learning to navigate awkward social situations and the brave new world of reality TV (she says to her sister, "...TV has gone to hell in a handbasket. These reality shows - my God! What a waste of time and money," which is even funnier when you realize the author herself is a producer on HGTV's "House Hunters.") Erinn is quite a character - very smart but myopic at times in certain social situations. She can't stop herself from correcting the grammar of others, quoting movies and plays, and citing historical facts. She is also determined to do a good job on the show, even if it is a step down from her days as a celebrated playwright in New York City. The third book in the series is "Much Ado About Mother" and due out this month; I'm very much looking forward to reading more about the Wolf women.

Humor, romance, the TV industry... what more could!you ask for in a weekend.

Great weekend read-- humor, romance and understanding the inner workings of television shows! I could relate a lot to the TV industry part- much of the book had me nodding my head, laughing or walking down memory lane as to how I worked when I worked in production in New York. When the romance hit, okay..I jumped to the end to see who she ended up with and then had to work my way back through the book. I'm like that. But the writing is such that you gobble it up pretty quickly. My only note is that her main character is such a obsessive grammar stickler that I'm almost afraid to write this review. =) A worthwhile read.

Funny!

A Comedy of Erinn September 19 3 stars.
Erinn is cynical, uptight, and funny. There are two possible heroes in this book. I think you will be happy with the one she chooses.
I really like the possibility of this book. It is funny and the characters are great and the plot is interesting. Here is what it lacked for me. I needed the actual love scene and more of them than I got. Maybe it is just not that kind of romance novel, but actual love scenes would have gone a long way to have me in invest in the chemistry of the couple. I would have also liked the leads to spend more time together. I loved them together. I would have liked closing chapters where they were together and making that crazy thing work. I would kill for a portion of this book to be from the hero's view point. This would make this book delicious. I wanted to roll around in the happy ending. Then, I would really know the hero and the couple and likely reread this one many times.
Going to the writers website, I see that there will be more books featuring the Wolf women. Maybe I will get my wishes granted in future books!
